Mercedes Benz CLS Facelift

A new addition to the CLS range is the new entry-level model version, the CLS 280, powered by the 231 hp V6 engine (0- 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.7 seconds and top speed of 152 mph (245 km/h), and 9.8-10.0 l/100km fuel consumption), while the CLS 63 AMG flagship model is powered by the 514 hp AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine. All CLS models are equipped with Mercedes’ 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission which, in manual shift mode “M” allows the driver to shift through the gears using shift paddles on the steering wheel. This shortens the 0-100 km/h acceleration time by 0.2 seconds.

Mercedes Benz decided to give a facelift to one of its most successful cars, the Mercedes Benz CLS. Overall, no big changes for the four door coupe, but at a closer look, we see a new grille, new rear apron with new LED tail lights and trapezoidal tailpipes, new side mirrors with arrow-shaped LED indicator lights and restyled alloy wheels (17 inch for CLS 280, 320 CDI and 350 CGI; 18 inch on CLS 500; 19 inch for CLS 63 AMG).

As you’d expect, the CLS’ list of available features is pretty long and it includes Audio 20, Audio 20 CD with CD changer, Audio 50 and Audio 50 APS with DVD changer and LINGUATRONIC voice control system (which have now been upgraded to a 5-inch colour screen), COMAND APS with a high-resolution 6.5-inch colour display, LINGUATRONIC for audio, navigation and telephone calls, a music register for storing audio files, plus an SD memory card slot.

Mercedes is already accepting orders for the facelifted CLS and sales are scheduled to start in March 2008. The starting prices are: CLS 280: Euro 55,692; CLS 320 CDI: Euro 59,321; CLS 350 CGI: Euro 61,404; CLS 500: Euro 75,053; CLS 63 AMG: Euro 106,624.00
