Rinspeed sQuba Concept

The Rinspeed sQuba Concept created a lot of buzz around it when it was first announced because it’s probably the first amphibian concept that doesn’t look like some crazy vehicle. And here are the first photos taken by us today, at Geneva, where they are making the final adjustments for the press days which will start tomorrow, so don’t mind the tarpaulin covering the car.

Geneva 2008: Ford Kuga ready for production

These are photos taken by us today, one day before the Geneva Motor Show press days, of the Ford Kuga, Ford’s crossover which will go on sale soon after the official debut, at the Swiss show and, as you know, the production already started a few days ago.

Based on Ford’s C-car architecture the Kuga will come with both front wheel drive and all wheel drive, while safety and handling are improved with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with combined Anti Rollover Mitigation (ARM), and ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). When sales will start, the Ford Kuga will be available with only one engine, a 136 hp 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi mated to a six-speed manual transmission and with an estimated fuel consumption of 6.3 and 6.4 liters per 100 km.

Land Rover LRX Concept

At the Geneva Motor Show, Land Rover brought a new, improved version of the Land Rover LRX Concept. This one is black and is powered by a 2.0 litre turbo diesel which will have an estimated fuel economy of 60 mpg (4.7 litres/100 km), while CO2 emissions would be 120g/km. Also, the concept will feature a new technology concept, Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD) which allows the vehicle electric drive alone at lower speeds, plus Terrain Response technology, new Eco mode and Sports mode for sportier feel.

The roof panel and the underbody are now made of lightweight materials, like carbon, which, besides making the car lighter, offer improved safety. With Land Rover presenting this new version of the LRX, we can only assume that they really have some serious plans for this car, which is great news.

Maserati Chicane

The Geneva Motor Show marks the world debut of the Maserati Chicane, a concept developed by Istituto Europeo Di Design. The car is a 2+2 coupe, powered by a V8 engine placed in the front and features rear-wheel-drive. The Chicane concept is 4400 mm long, 1250 mm tall and 1850 mm wide and we must tell you that it looks awesome. Check out more photos taken by us today, after the jump.

kia_soul_geneva

The press conference announcing the Kia Soul mini crossover concepts will take place tomorrow, but today we managed to take some photos of the upcoming Soul ‘triplets’ which will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show. The first one and the most impressive, is the SOUL Burner, with a cool modern design and painted in black and red. The second one is the DIVA, which it looks like it will target all those wannabe divas out there, with a glamorous look, given by the white color and especially the golden insertions. And the third one is the Searcher, which, judging after its looks and its name, is a more off-terrain oriented vehicle. More info tomorrow, when the official press conference will take place.

lfa Romeo 8C Competizione

One thing is for sure…whoever doubted that Alfa Romeo doesn’t create beautiful cars is a lunatic. Today we saw the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione at the Geneva show, while the guys at the Alfa stand were making the final touches and it looks absolutely superb. Both the coupe and the cabrio version. Morgan LIFECar

A couple of weeks ago we wrote about the Morgan LIFECar, a stunning concept from the British car maker Morgan. The 30 horsepower (no, no typo, that’s thirty) hydrogen fuel cell concept weights 600 kg and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 160 km/h. Morgan is very prowd of its clean Zero Emissions Concept which also has an estimated fuel economy of 1.8 litres per 100 km (that’s 130 mpg!).

Mercedes SL 63 AMG facelift

The Mercedes Benz stand at the Geneva Motor Show was pretty impressive, with four world premieres, the updated CLS and SLK, the new CLC and, maybe the most impressive, the new Mercedes SL 63 AMG facelift. The car will replace the current SL 55 AMG and will feature new bodykit, darkened headlamps and tail-lights and new 19-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, as its name suggest, there’ll be a 6.3 liter V8 engine which develops 525 hp and 630 Nm of torque, slightly more than the current 5.5 liter V8 on the SL 55 AMG which has 517 HP and 720 Nm. And you’re probably be amazed, but the SL 63 AMG will be slower than the current SL 55 AMG, going from 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) in 4.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds slower than the SL 55 AMG. The engine will be mated to a MCT 7-speed sports transmission and the car will also feature new sports suspension and a new speed sensitive steering wheel system, plus a new 3-stage ESP system (ON/SPORT/OFF).

Mazda2 Genewa Motor Show

One year after the five-door version of the Mazda2 debuted here at Geneva, now it’s time for the Mazda2 three-door version to be presented in world premiere at the Swiss show. The car presented at the Mazda stand looks good especially in the red mica color (like the Mazda Ryuga concept presented last year at Detroit) and with the exterior sports package featuring lowered suspension, wider tread, projector-type headlamps and 16-inch painted wheels. On the interior, the car has also sporty accents, with Recaro® seats in racy red and black two-tone, matching red stitching on the leather steering wheel leather inserts and panels on the door trims.

Under the hood, the Mazda2 three-door hatchback will be available with the same engines as the ?ve-door hatchback:
• MZR 1.5-litre petrol with maximum power of 76 kW/103 PS at 6,000 rpm, maximum torque of 137 Nm at 4,000 rpm
• MZR 1.5-litre uses only 5.9 litres of fuel per 100 km (combined), produces just 140 g/km of CO 2
• MZR 1.3-litre Standard Power version with maximum power of 55 kW/75 PS at 6,000 rpm, maximum torque of 121 Nm at 3,500 rpm
• MZR 1.3-litre High Power version with maximum output of 63 kW/86 PS at 6,000 rpm, maximum torque of 122 Nm at 3,500 rpm
• Both derivatives of the MZR 1.3-litre petrol use just 5.4 litres of fuel per 100 km (combined) and produce just 129 g/km of CO 2
• MZ-CD 1.4-litre common-rail turbo diesel engine with maximum power of 50 kW/68 PS at 4,000 rpm and 160 Nm of torque at a low 2,000 rpm for lively driving fun
• MZ-CD 1.4-litre uses just 4.3 litres fuel per 100 km (combined) and produces a very low 114 g/km of CO 2
• Five-speed manual transmission standard for all engines

Mercedes Benz SL

At the Geneva Motor Show, besides a modified C-Class T-Model, the German tuner Lorinser will also show the Nardo3, a tuning program for the Mercedes Benz SL. The program includes a very aggressive body kit, featuring new front end, widened side skirt and modified side vents, new rear bumper with integrated exhaust and a set of unique wheels.

The 50 units limited edition will be powered by a modified biturbo V12 engine which now produces 660 hp (485 kW) and 1013 Nm of torque, while, in order to prevent transmission damage, the top speed was limited to 325 km/h (200 mph).

Peugeot 308 GT

At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, Peugeot will present its latest additions to the 308 range, the sporty Peugeot 308 GT and the all new Peugeot 308 SW.

The 308 GT will be Peugeot’s new top of the range model and it will be powered by the 175 hp 1.6 litre turbocharged THP petrol engine mated to a new 6-speed manual gearbox. This powertrain was used by the 207 GTi and it also powers the Mini Cooper S. The 308 GT goes from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 8.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h). Besides the new engine, the car also fetures a lower front bumper, a rear spoiler and a reduced overall ride height, while on the interior the customers will have aluminium gear knob and foot pedals, plus a new steering wheel design.

The other Peugeot premiere, the 308 SW is based on the 308 SW Prologue Concept, presented last year at the Frankfurt show and it will have an increased wheelbase and overhang rear (by 100 mm and 124 mm), which allowed Peugeot to add a third passenger seats row. The 308 SW will be available with a wide range of engines, including the naturally aspirated 95 hp 1.4 liter and 120 HP 1.6 liter, plus the 1.6 liter turbocharged unit, available with 140 hp, 150 hp and 175 hp. The diesel engine offer include the 90 hp 1.4-liter, the 110 hp 1.6-liter and 136 hp 1.6-liter.

The 308 GT will be available starting this spring, while the 308 SW’s sales will start this summer.

Fiat 500 Aria Concept

The Italian car maker will also show the Fiat 500 Aria Concept at the Geneva Motor Show, besides the Fiat 500 Abarth. The car is an eco-friendly concept powered by a 1.3 liter 16v Multijet Euro 5 turbodiesel unit (with anti-particulate DPF filter) mated to a roboticDualogic shift transmission.

The Fiat 500 Aria is also has equipment with a Stop&Start system which allows to control the temporary switch-off of the engine which, combined with the Dualogic shift, manages to reduce consumption by around 10% in the urban cycle and the CO2 emissions are 98 g/km. The Fiat 500 Aria also, recycled materials are used, like the recycled rubber used for the floor, which is composed by rubber granules deriving from used tyres, or the seats upholstered with recycled and woven leather.

Alfa Romeo 8C Spider

There are less than two weeks left before the Geneva Motor Show but it seems that Alfo doesn’t want to wait no more, so they’ve officially unveiled the new Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, the convertible version of the Alfa 8C Competizione. Designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, it sure is gorgeous and we can’t wait to feast our eyes on this beautiful Italian cabrio, at the Swiss show, where we’ll be present to report live.

The Alfa 8C Spider, like its coupe brother, will only be produced in 500 units and its very similar with the Competizione, expect for the hooded top fitted with electro-hydraulic automatic control, which is composed of two overlapping sheets: the external one is made with a multi-thread textile which can withstand the elements, whilst the interior has high sound-proofing qualities.

The 8C Spider will be powered by the same 4.7 liter V8 engine, developing 450 hp at 7000?rpm and 480 Nm (354 ft-lb) at 4750?rpm and mated to a 5 speed gearbox. The coupe version accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds and top speed is 181 mph (292 km/h) but we expect the convertible version to be slightly slower.

Jaguar XJ Portfolio

2009 Honda Accord
